I downloaded the driver from HP for windows 10 and it says driver unavailable.. but it installed the fax. I also tried driver for windows 8 since the compatibility test was showing a message mentioning windows 8. and then I tried the driver for windows 7. No luck I got this message on one of my attempts "Windows can't install officejet pro 8610 kernel-mode print driver" I have tried for 3 days. The Print and scan doctor says printer installed. Then it takes me back and tells me to install software again and it fails. with a big X. Help I am ready to toss out the HP

Ok.. so I give up and I luckily found
HP ePrint + Advantage
and I am sending everything through that channel. And it works. I will not have the full function of my printer unless someone comes up with an update. Either Windows 10 or HP. I am so tired of downloading and deleting.. 5 days with no printer. Even though I was emailing the printer for really important stuff.
Thanks

Hi @MRIVERACPA
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are having issues installing the printer on your computer.
Don’t worry, I'd love to help!
Follow below steps to resolve this issue.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the PC
14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
15.) Connect the USB cable ONLY when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I would have liked to give you a thumbs up and I do for your effort. I tried everything. I even tried connecting with an ethernet cord. Neither the ehternet cord or the USB cord corked. It will not see it., I got a message about the kernel-mode and said I needed to obtain a driver that is compatible with the version of windows I am running and to contact the manufacturer. The printer is only a little over a year old and works great thru WIFI .. I send emails and print in that way. I will continue to print in this manner until I can come with a solution.
I followed everything exactly as you provided. Thanks for you effort.

I have the exact same problem. Needed to re-set my 64 bit Windows 10 yesterday, and cannot het my printer to work today. Have tried everything (I also have a 32-bit Windows 10 PC and it can use the printer fine).

I had to reset my windows 10 and that is when the problem with my printer started. Very similar. As I said I have not found the exact answer but learned how to use the e print advantage and now I am almost normal. Still waiting for some angel to come down and figure out what is wrong. I thought maybe my windows 10 reset had gone wrong but Dell India wants me to pay for software support. I refuse to pay for that and I don't even think they would have figured it out. If you hear something new I am willing to give it a try. But for now I can print. I can fax because that installed but not the printer. Lucky my desktop computer is wireless so Bingo.. I have service.

No it still says Driver not available. I even found my CD and that installation did not work. It has to be the windows 10 when I reset it and it is not well and Dell India will not help unless I buy software warranty.
Thanks for your help but I can print with HP ePrint Advantage for now.
