This Product is no longer supported by HP as of mid February 2020.

Does that mean I need to get another printer?

Will this one continue to work until something breaks or is this a software concern?

Once deemed "unsupported", he printer is no longer eligible for services provided by HP Technical Support.

Driver and Software support for new drivers is suspended except perhaps for critical security fixes, though anything of this  nature is always and only provided at the sole discretion of HP.  My guess is that once "unsupported", all new support (provided by HP) is terminated.

The printer website support is still available, including any available software, drivers, and documentation.

As long as the printer works and you are happy with it, there is no reason to rush out to replace it.

If the printer fails mechanically, that is, if a solution you need cannot be found in the website support or from the Community, it would be time to consider a new printer.
