Seeing the same problem here.  HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 just purchased 02/05/19.  Very annoying!

What are they likely to suggest.  I dont want to be without a printer, no do I have the box to easily ship it back?  Keen to gett this annoying software bug resolved but dont want to spend 2 hours on the phone running through a bunch of scripts that will not fix it only to find I have to send it away and be without a printer.  Also if I get the same printer back it will just have the same problem.

Only people using the schedule function see this issue which is why its not a bigger issue.

At a minimum, I will be filing an issue report with Costco Customer Service along with copies of the communications that confirm that HP is aware of the problem and have not resolved it. Costco is distributing this model printer in large quantities and should know that a very obvious and known bug is being perpetuated into the marketplace and causing client dissatisfaction.

I like your idea. Perhaps it will take another corporation to get HP to fix their problem with these printers but I don't hold out any hope of HP ever fixing this problem. I guess to them they just don't see it as a problem. And it could be easily fixed with a firmware update. I doubt there are that many people that even use a phone line anymore. HP fix this problem, PLEASE!

New 8720 bought April 2019 and this problem is still there despite all new firmware and software.

I have just spoken to HP UK support.

The baseline is this; HP does not consider this a fault, and therefore there is no fix, you simply have to press ok to remove the message, and the printer would work as expected anyway, even if you do not clear the message.

They do not agree there is a software/hardware issue related to either bad programming or some 'sensing' issue of the RJ11 socket. The message is a standard message informing you that your printer is scheduled to be powered off and that you will no longer be able to receive faxes...it matters not that you have no telephone cord plugged nor wish to receive faxes, which is why you have no telephone cord plugged in...it is just a reminder...

I mentioned that I do not require a reminder about a telephone cord I do not have plugged in warning me that I may miss a FAX I am never going to receive...

Make your own mind up as to whether this is a problem, and wether is should be fixed...

A firmware update is what started this issue in the first place.  When using the original firmware that shipped with the printer, I did not have this issue.

Anyone that thinks HP cares about it's customers has not been living under a rock for the last few years, or hasn't owned an HP printer since about 1999.
