macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I can't change the paper size. I need to print 4 x 6 and have tried all avenues. From File - Create Custom, changed on Printer and no matter what I do it will not print on anything but 8 x 11. I use MacPro and have watched the video how to as well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the information. Paying attention to detail will make a certain Sherlock Holmes proud. That was a fabulous write-up or summary of what I required. Your untiring efforts and prudence are greatly appreciated.

 

I have gathered enough information from your response to provide these troubleshooting steps: Please perform these steps patiently.

  • Run all the latest Mac Os updates and ensure that they are correctly installed.
  • Then update the router's firmware also.

Now check if it gets resolved. If it continues, then remove the printer and add it again. follow directions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-2600-all-in-one-printer-series/12319824/model/167793... (HP Printers - Printer is Offline (Mac)

Perform these steps:

  • Step 3: Remove multiple printers from the printer list
  • Step 4: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer
  • Remember to add it as AirPrint and not as an HP printer.

Also, try using a different brand of 4 X 6 paper and check if it prints correctly.

Let's figure out things working as a team. Commendable troubleshooting competence and a great approach to the issue. Kudos to you for that.

 

  • Did you check if the paper type is supported by the printer?
  • Has it worked before?
  • Did a software or OS update cause this to stop working?
  • Did you try printing on a different compatible brand of paper?
  • Have you tried printing from multiple apps?
  • Did you uninstall and reinstall any specific app and check again?
  • What are you trying to print? Are they photos?
  • Is it a USB or wireless connection?

Please furnish these details for us to assist you correctly.

Hi DavidSMP,

 

  • Did you check if the paper type is supported by the printer? -Yes it is supported I was just trying to print 4x6 size
  • Has it worked before? -Never tried to change paper size before
  • Did a software or OS update cause this to stop working? -Don't know as never tried changing size before. Software is up to date
  • Did you try printing on a different compatible brand of paper?- No the paper I was trying to print on is smaller and thicker but the printer does pull it through the feed once I get the error message and touch ok
  • Have you tried printing from multiple apps? - Yes, from my laptop and from the printer itself. I can print normal 8x11 of anything
  • Did you uninstall and reinstall any specific app and check again? - No
  • What are you trying to print? Are they photos? Trying to print just written words no photos on 4x 6 size paper that will go in a frame listing features of a property
  • Is it a USB or wireless connection? -wireless connection
