The OfficeJet Pro 9015E is 3-4 months old. I've had the printer hang with a B8077DF6 message on the display panel. I've "Chatted" with customer support for about 1 hour. During this session I performed all the "diagnostic" steps as directed. They then shipped a new printer head, which I've installed.
Surprise, the problem has not gone away and I'm now also getting a message that the Printer was shut down improperly after I unplugged the power cable and plugged it back in to restart printer. Without disconnecting power the printer is locked and unusable.
Error codes, from my days as a computer programmer, are a tool to facilitate problem determination and point to corrective action. Not sure why with all the B8077DF6 messages showing up on this forum that HP support has not yet figured out the root problem and designed, developed and deployed a solution.
A good printer, when it works, but with this error code and the locking up of the printer it is not acceptable.
My next step will be to set aside a day to try telephone support.
If anyone has found a "real" solution to this I'd appreciate it.
My guess is it has something to do with the "Instant Ink" service where the printer must communicate print counts to HP servers. This message has occurred even when printer is powered off.
