HP OfficeJet Pro 6230 ePrinter
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My officejet Pro 6230 does not print blue. new cartridges are installed, the heads have been cleaned to level 3, the cartidges are vented and seated correctly so I would presume the head is blocked.

How can I clean / fix this?

Hi @Paul805,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 6230 is not printing blue even after installing new cartridges, cleaning the printhead, and ensuring proper cartridge seating, it's possible that the printhead is indeed clogged. Here are some additional steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  1. Manual Cleaning:

    • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
    • Remove the ink cartridges.
    • Locate the printhead. It's the part that the cartridges sit in.
    • Moisten a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
    • Gently wipe the printhead to remove any dried ink or debris. Be careful not to touch the nozzles directly.
  2. Soaking Method:

    • Remove the printhead.
    • Fill a shallow container with a small amount of distilled water.
    • Place the printhead in the water, allowing the nozzles to soak for a few hours or overnight.
    • Remove the printhead, pat it dry with a lint-free cloth, and reinstall it in the printer.
  3. Using Printhead Cleaning Kits:

    • Printhead cleaning kits with specialized solutions are available. Follow the instructions provided with the kit.
  4. Printer Software Utility:

    • Use the HP printer software utility on your computer to run additional printhead cleaning cycles. This can sometimes help dislodge stubborn clogs.
  5. Check for Firmware Updates:

    • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can include improvements or fixes for printing issues.
  6. Check for Air Bubbles:

    • Make sure there are no air bubbles trapped in the ink cartridges. You can gently tap the cartridges on a flat surface to release any trapped air.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
