HP Officejet V40
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have an old HP OfficeJet v40 printer. I have a new MacBook Pro. I connected  my printer to the MacBook Pro via the USB cable  when I add the printer it comes up as generic PCL printer if I try to select software it is not in the list.  I have looked on the HP website there is no driver for my printer. The only options that it shows me under the general PCL printer is duplexer but my printer has scan, fax and copy capabilities. When I try to print something not all of my  printer preferences are shown such as color or ink settings.  My printer will only print black-and-white one connected to my MacBook Pro but when I am using a Windows operating system I can see all of my printer preferences and it will print in black-and-white and color. Please help.  I have tried resetting and re-adding the printer multiple times and nothing is working.

Thanks

@Crazyhouse9, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

HP Officejet v40 All-in-One Printer series is not compatible with macOS 10.14.

To check the printer specifications, click here.

This printer does not have AirPrint capability too. You may use Gutenprint driver. Refer to this document.

Note: These drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
