Hello,

my second cartridge of 952xl in a Costco 2-pack gets this error when replacing the first depleted cartridge. I’m irate that your update will cost me this $50 cartridge and who knows about the color cartridges I just purchased. These are genuine HP cartridges. How will HP resolve this?

Check the expiration date on each cartridge, if expired it will not work. An automatic firmware upgrade prevents the printer from using expired cartridges.

It doesn't say that the cartridge has expired.  It says it is an older generation cartridge.  It was from the same 2-pack as the cartridge that just ran out of ink.  I just bought 3 more color cartridges, and there is no way to see the expiration date on those cartridges until I open the package.  So are you telling me I'm just taking a chance when I buy ink - the cartridges may or may not be good when I go to use them even though I'm buying true HP ink cartridges?  At $50 per cartridge, that's not a chance I want to take.  There are many references to HP having done an update that is causing this problem for many users.  It is unacceptable for HP to make cartridges obsolete, leaving users with hundreds of dollars of now unusable cartridges of genuine HP ink.  I don't have the exact date I bought the 2 pack, but it wasn't that long ago.

The expiration date is printed both on the ink cartridge and card box on the back  side bottom right.
