I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer is only printing in black and white on your iMac running macOS 12.0 Monterey. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
 

1. Check the Print Settings:

  • Open a document and select File > Print.
  • In the print dialogue, click on Show Details (if necessary).
  • Look for an option labeled Color or Quality in the expanded print settings.
  • Make sure Color is selected and Black and White or Grayscale is unchecked.
  • Try printing again.

2. Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click on the “-” (minus) button to remove the printer.
  • Restart your Mac.
  • Go back to Printers & Scanners and click the "+" button to re-add the printer. Ensure the correct driver is selected (not AirPrint).
  • If necessary, you can download the latest drivers from the HP Support site.

3. Check Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e.
  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac and check for any printer updates.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions if an update is available.

4. Check for HP Smart App Settings: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • If you’re using the HP Smart app to print, check its settings.
  • Ensure that Color Printing is enabled in the app's print options before printing.

5. Reset Printing System (if needed):

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click anywhere in the list of printers and select Reset Printing System.
  • This will remove all printers from your Mac. After that, re-add the printer by clicking on the "+" button and selecting your printer.
