Have HP Envy 5530 e-All-in-One Series Printer. What does out of marker supply message mean? How can I remove this message or must something be done to correct at problem?

Krazy Toad,

I didn't go through all of the hoopla about deleting and adding back via AirPrint, partly because that still sounds like a solution for a wireless printer.  I kind of spaced the whole thing and over the past few days a couple more pages printed fine, even though the "alarm" triangle was still showing.  Rarely print docs in color, had occasion to tonight.  Alternating conversation in black, red, and blue, came out in black, red, and pink.  Replaced cyan cartridge and it's okay now, but a) never got a "low ink" message, and b) under "supplies," it still had what I would have thought was a reasonable amount left.

I know that several years ago it was common on an HP to get quite a few more copies printed after the "low ink!" messages started showing up.  Who the heck knows what a "marker" is in this context, and if it has to do with ink, why doesn't it say that?  Why is it doing this when the supply area still shows what appears to be a significant amount of ink left?   (And why does running out of blue make blue come out pink?)

I am on macOS Catalina also, and I came here because I saw the "marker supply low" message for the first time after changing out a low cyan cartridge. I can find no documentation on the meaning of the phrase "marker supply low," which is puzzling, not to mention frustrating.

I went through the steps recommended upstream of removing cartridges, unplugging, waiting 60 seconds, plugging in, putting cartridges back. That didn't help. What did help was removing the printer from System Preferences and reinstalling with AirPrint, which happened by default. I no longer see "marker supply low." If this doesn't work for you, I have no other ideas. Just saying it did work for me.

Thanks for your input on the subject.  🙂   I still attach via USB port, so AirPrint wouldn't do me any good.  I wish I could get my computer to stop asking me every single day if I want to use the wireless settings, which it didn't used to do.  Only thing "out of marker" thing that worked for me was putting in a new ink cartridge, even though the last one didn't show as very close to empty, which seems like a rip-off.

Hi, I've done all the reboots, take toner out, unplug, replug, power off, and have  a MAC, using updated Catalina and Airplay. As well as uninstalling and reinstalling, checking for firmware and updating, still getting a "marker supply low' on my general printer and scanner data for myHP 8710 officejet pro.  I never had this error under the last OS.  Also have al new genuine HP ink in my printer.  Please Apprise what the Marker Supply Low means, and how to correct the error... as someone else mentioned, there is no data for this error in your search engine other than this thread... and like others here, the solutions are not solving anything.  Please apprise next steps to remove this error as I've spent over an hour following all these advice pieces from HP staff, to no avail.
