Deskjet 2600all in one. PC crashes due to Spooler Subsystem app stopped running, HPSUPD.exe. not working. PrinterControl4 not working. I've just tried the printer and it is working ok but I don't understand why the PC keeps crashing. It's happened every day since 16/12/23

Hi @Ro-80,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with the Print Spooler service on your PC, particularly related to your HP Deskjet 2600 all-in-one printer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Restart the Print Spooler Service:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter to open the Services window.
  • Scroll down and locate the "Print Spooler" service.
  • Right-click on it and select "Restart."

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the Services window as mentioned above.
  • Stop the "Print Spooler" service.
  • Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS.
  • Delete all files in the PRINTERS folder.
  • Start the "Print Spooler" service again.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP Deskjet 2600. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your operating system is up-to-date. Install any pending Windows updates.

Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
  • Run the following commands:

sfc /scannow dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

  • Reboot your computer after these processes complete.

Check for Malware:

  • Perform a full system scan using your antivirus software to ensure that your system is not infected with malware.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the HP printer software from your computer.
  • Download the latest software from the HP website and reinstall it.

Check Event Viewer:

  • Open Event Viewer (Win + X and select "Event Viewer").
  • Navigate to "Windows Logs" > "System" and look for any error messages related to the Print Spooler or HPSUPD.exe.

Check for conflicting software:

  • Some third-party applications might interfere with the Print Spooler. Temporarily disable non-essential startup programs and services to check if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
