HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I have an HP Envy 6055 printing from an iMac Ventura. When I save a document as a PDF and then try to print it, it shows in the preview panel as completely compressed and unreadable or, if I change the scaling, only as the first few pages in normal size. How can I print out an entire PDF at normal size?

Hi @Polllly

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering issues with printing PDF documents from your HP Envy 6055 printer on your iMac Ventura. The problem could be related to either the PDF file format itself or the printer settings. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

1. Check the PDF File

  • Corrupted PDF: Sometimes, the issue could be with the PDF file itself. Try opening the PDF in a different PDF reader (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader or the built-in Preview app) to see if the problem persists.
  • If the PDF looks fine in the reader, proceed with troubleshooting the print settings.

2. Use Adobe Acrobat Reader to Print

The Preview app on macOS sometimes has issues with printing complex PDFs. Try printing from Adobe Acrobat Reader instead.

  • Download and Install Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe website.
  • Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Go to File > Print and make sure to:
    • Select Actual Size in the Page Sizing & Handling section to avoid any scaling issues.
    • Under the Page Setup or Layout options, select Fit to Printable Area or Actual Size (depending on your printer's settings).
    • Click Print and check if the entire document prints correctly.

3. Check Print Settings in Preview

If you prefer using Preview to print the PDF, make sure to check the print settings:

  • Open the PDF in Preview.
  • Go to File > Print.
  • Ensure the following settings:
    • Scale: Set it to 100% (this should prevent scaling the document too small).
    • Page Handling: Choose Scale to Fit or Fit to Printable Area.
    • Paper Size: Double-check that the correct paper size (e.g., Letter or A4) is selected.

If you continue to see issues, try the Adobe Acrobat Reader method described above.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
