I have recently started having a problem with my printer. When printing, any pdf (or text copied from a pdf) is printed with a grey shadow behind it. All other text is clear. All test pages print perfectly.
I have tried removing and reinstalling the device, both with the hp driver, and the windows driver.
I have tried using brand new printer cartridges.
I followed all the steps from this similar post, to no avail.
The pdfs are high resolution - this is not a problem of pixilation. PDFs that used to print fine are now shadowed.
I'm including two images. One is from a Word file. You can see the first paragraph is clear. The second paragraph was copied from a pdf, and is blurry. This page used to print clear.
The second image is a straight pdf, complete with shadow. This image used to print clear.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I hate to replace this otherwise very reliable printer.
Thanks in Advance,
Angie

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here
Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP DeskJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
To reinstall, click here.
- If the issue still continues, install using Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver: Click here
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for posting back.
this looks like an app-specific issue with Adobe reader try to print as an image or update and reinstall the app.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
