I bought a digital paper pack. Most backgrounds are black. I printed quite a few but now when I open one to print it, the background changes from black to white. Then the printer will not print anymore. There are no lights or error message on the printer or my laptop. When I click print, the screen just grays out but it will not print anything

The printer is generally unaware of what it is printing.

Job processing happens before the printer receives the content to be printed.

 

First - if not done,

Restart everything.

Can't stand it?  Restart / Reboot at least the printer and the computer.

 

As you know, when opened and viewed with an appropriate app or software program, PNG files normally have a transparent background.  The background is generally denoted by the "black" backdrop when you open and view the .png file.

 

If a PNG file is changed to -- or printed as -- a normal image file (.jpg), the transparent background is lost.

 

If a file fails to print at all, there might be a structure issue with that file.

 

IF the file is at fault, It might be possible to repair the file.

Use your search engine and look for "editing transparency in png files"

 

What else?

 

What else might help depends on the severity of the problem and perhaps which app / software you are using to print the PNG files.

 

Uninstalling / Reinstalling the app or software  might help.

 

A Printer "Cleaning" and  "Restart" of the type used when there is a Paper Jam might help.
