Hi @Jeremie24 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A "PRINTER FAILURE" error message on the HP Officejet Pro 8610 can be caused by several issues, including hardware malfunctions, firmware glitches, or issues with the printhead. Here are several steps you can take to try and resolve this error:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
Sometimes a simple power cycle can resolve the issue.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
2. Check for Firmware Updates
Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on HP's website or through the HP Smart app.
3. Inspect and Clean the Printhead
The printhead might be clogged or improperly seated.
- Open the printer and remove the printhead.
- Clean the printhead contacts and the carriage contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
- Reinstall the printhead and ensure it is seated correctly.
4. Reset the Printer
Since a semi-full reset didn't work, try a full reset. Note that this might reset all settings to factory defaults.
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the "OK" and "Help" buttons while turning the printer back on.
- Keep holding the buttons until the printer displays a reset message.
5. Check for Hardware Issues
Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer.
- Open all accessible covers and look for any stuck paper or foreign objects.
- Ensure the paper tray is properly aligned and the paper is loaded correctly.
6. Reconnect and Reinstall
Sometimes reconnecting and reinstalling the printer can help.
- Disconnect the printer from your computer and any network connections.
- Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer.
- Reinstall the latest drivers from the HP website.
- Reconnect the printer to your computer or network.
7. Test with a Different Power Outlet
Electrical issues can sometimes cause errors.
- Plug the printer into a different power outlet, preferably one directly connected to the wall.
