PRINTING PHOTOS - How can I change photo to a custom size?

Just bought an HP Office jet 8024 wireless printer and have a simple problem that I cannot seem to overcome - What am I not doing?

I want to  print  custom sized photo onto  standard size Photo paper.

I use 6" x 4" , 7" x 5" photo paper and also have some  A4 size.

 I want to print 8" x 6" photos onto A4 paper but HP Smart seems not capable of allowing custom sized items to be called for

. 

What am I missing - Never had this problem in the past?

Have checked all the properties.

There is no way to custom size your photos unlike other print programmes I have used in the past it only has a few sizes to choose from. I am trying to get 8" x 6" photos (20cm x 15cm) - what settings would you use to make custom sized prints?

You mentioned you would be using alternative software . Which software do you recommend to use if HP Smart can't give me the option I need.
