Photosmart B110a (CN245B) wireless AIO printer.
I have multiple wireless access points using the same SSID to provide coverage over a large area. When setting up the printer on the TouchSmart panel wireless setup fails. Printing the report reveals the following error:
" More than one access point/wireless router has been found that matches your network name (SSID). If this is not intended, your HP printer may connect to the wrong network."
In my case this IS intended but there appears to be no option available to respond "OK, just connect to any AP using my SSID". If I switch off all but one of the APs the setup completes OK. If I have to do this every time I switch the printer on then the printer is USELESS to me.
Have I missed something?

This should not be a problem. I have a B110 (and another 10 or so HP wireless printers) on an Airport network with 5 APs and they just hook up.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Do not use WEP - use WPA or WPA2 with a strong 13+ charactere password.
2. Enable SSID broadcast on all APs
3. Do no use MAC acddress filtering
4. Make sure 'AP isolation' or 'wireless isolation' is disabled.
5. Make sure you are not on a VPN nor logged onto your guest network.
6. If different channels on the APs do not work, try the same channel.

Is there just one of your AP's that provide the DHCP and the rest are in bridge mode? If they all have DHCP active and just happen to have the same SSID, that is technically multiple networks and subnets.

Hi,
I only have one DHCP server on the network, all the other APs (actually netgear routers) are acting as switches with DHCP server disabled. I don't think it's a DHCP problem. At switch on the printer appears to (correctly) detect multiple APs using the same SSID (not sure how it does this) and thinks these might be on different physical networks, as I guess they could be if my neighbour had a network using the same SSID for example. So in a way perhaps it's behaviour makes sense in warning me that it does not know which AP (or network) to connect to. However having given the warning I would have hoped it gave me the option to allow it to connect any way.
However this is now making me question my WLAN configuration which is intended to extend the range of my WLAN and allow devices to roam and connect to the WAP with the strongest signal (as all my PCs do happily). I'm sure I have seen recommendations that using the same SSID is the preferred way of implementing such an extended WLAN. Perhaps this printer is just too clever!

Further to my last post... I think my WLAN config is OK, I really just want the printer to "attach" to the AP with the strongest signal which is what I believe my PCs do. That way it will connect automatically when it powers up and I wouldn't have to manually intervene to tell it to ignore the multiple AP situation and just connect anyway. Once connected it wouldn't have to change APs because my printer doesn't roam :-). I think the printer is definitely trying to be too clever!

I have heard of this problem (you may want to search the forums for it). One way to do this would be to shut down all of the non-DHCP AP's during the printer install, then once it is on, turn the APs back on.

I am facing identitical problem reported at the start of the post. I have managed to configure the printer by switching off all AP's except one. Once all the AP's are active, if i switch off and on the printer, the problem is repeated. So i am forced to keep the printer ON all the time. None of my other wireless devices like laptop, ipad, iphone behave like this - they are able to seamlessly connect to AP's based on signal strength. Was there a solution found to this problem?

I've been using the printer fine over the wireless network. Today, I've made one of the wireless router to start work in the access point mode with the same SSID as the other router, and I am encountering the same problem. The one just turned into an access point has DHCP disabled.
All other 802.11[a/g/n] devices work just fine, doing the right thing. It's just this HP D110a printer that has a problem with this configuration. HP should address this problem. Has anyone else found a solution to this?
