HP PageWide Pro 477dw Multifunction Printer

Hi

I recently moved my PageWide Pro MPF 477dw printer and since restarting the printer I have been getting the a blue screen with an error message 8B380000.

GetAttachmentThumbnail.jpg

| tried resetting the printer and it gets through about 60% of the reset when I then get an error message saying:

"Printing functionality is disabled. Error code 0xc6fd0413"

I am assuming something was dislodged when I moved the printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to HP Support Community, @mss74

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

1. Perform a Deep Power Reset

Turn off the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall.

Disconnect USB, Ethernet, and fax cables.

Wait 2–3 minutes.

Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).

Power it on.
If the errors reappear, continue to the next section.

2. Check the Service Station for Obstructions

The service station on the right side often gets blocked after movement.

Steps:

Turn off and unplug the printer.

Open the top access area.

Look for torn paper, dried ink chunks, or loose plastic around the right side.

Gently check if the carriage/service station can move.
If it is stuck, the service station may have been damaged or obstructed during the move.

3. Reseat the Ink Cartridges and Close the Access Door Firmly

A loose cartridge or access door can interrupt initialization.

Steps:

Open the ink access door.

Remove all cartridges.

Reinsert them firmly until each locks into place.

Close the access door securely.
If the printer cannot detect proper closure, it may trigger error 0xc6fd0413.

4. Inspect the Encoder Strip and Encoder Disk

These guide the print mechanism and can become misaligned during transport.

Check for:

A thin transparent strip behind the carriage.

A round encoder wheel on the left side.
Ensure both are straight, clean, and not twisted or out of place.

If the strip is dirty, gently clean it with a dry lint-free cloth.

5. Reseat the Printbar (If Accessible)

Movement can loosen the electrical connection of the printbar.

Steps:

Open the printer’s top area.

Check the printbar assembly and its locking mechanism.

Press it down gently and ensure the lock is secure.
A lifted or partially disconnected printbar causes immediate startup errors.

6. When Hardware Failure Is Likely

If all previous steps fail, the cause is usually internal hardware damage such as:

Formatter/logic board failure

Service station motor failure

Printbar electronics failure

Internal cable partially unplugged

These require professional servicing because they are not user-repairable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
