HP PageWide Pro 552dw

Hello folks. I have an HP printer that is throwing a code of: 0x610000d3. I could find out what was wrong. I thought Id try the community forum.

This happened when a thick stack of stapled paper was accidentally put into the paper tray. The paper was then fed into the rollers and jammed it. Once I removed the paper tray, I could remove the jammed paper. But now the printer gives an error message. I tried resetting the printer using the LCD screen, but that did not do anything.

I searched for a fix. It seems like it might be a worm gear. But I'm not sure if that's true, or which one is broken.

Any idea what the issue might be? I made a short video if that helps. I posted it on Youtube but I cant post the link. The video title is "HP PageWide Pro 552dw. Error 0x610000d3. Need a fix."

- Thanks!

This error indicates that the print bar has slammed against the service sled. There are several causes that might cause this error.

        1. Ask the customer to remove the Yellow Ink Cartridge.

        2. Ask the customer to open the small interior door in the top left corner.

        3. Ask the customer to look into the small interior space to determine the position of the print bar.
          • If the print bar is in the up position, the customer will see a small black block on the bottom right side of the opening.
          • If the print bar is in the down position, the customer will not see the block, and instead will see a ribbed surface that extends from the front to back wall of the space.

    1. Proceed with one of the following options depending on the position of the print bar:
      • If the print bar is up, dispatch a technician and order a Print Bar Lift Mechanism Assembly (part number: D3Q24-67076).
      • If the print bar is down, proceed to step 5.
  1. To determine if the worm gear is slipping on its shaft on the print bar lift mechanism, ask the customer to open Tray 2, wait four seconds, and then close the tray. Ask the customer to listen for the first print bar movement which should take about four seconds after closing the tray.

  • If there is an abnormal whining sound, dispatch a tech to replace the print bar lift mech assembly and order a Print Bar Lift Mechanism Assembly (part number: D3Q24-67076).

You can view the lift mechanism by removing the back panel and checking the worm gear that drives the printhead lift mechanism.
