Product: Pagewide Pro MFP 477dw
Operating System: macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hi there,

 

since the last firmware update my PageWide PRO 477dw is only printing squares instead of characters since I updated to FW MAVEDWPP1N001.2132A.00. Pictures are printed correctly. It was first mentioned as I tried to print out of Word for Mac 2019. Printing into PDF Format and open it in PDF Expert, the Output seems OK, but printing the PDF file results in to the same output on the printer.

 

Is there a way to downgrade printers FW to the previous version?

Where do I get this Firmware file?

You can downgrade the printer. What you need to do is obtain the .FUL2 firmware file and copy it to a USB key. Then insert that key into the usb slot on the printer and wait. After a couple of minutes it will recognize that there is a firmware file and give you the option to install it.

Hello,

 

Hope you are fine, have you tried by any chance to reinstall the printer with Generic PostScript driver? Normally that fixes the file transcript to the printer language, also it would be great to print out a different type of file to check the outcome, a file like an email or printing a simple word doc to discard the PDF file and format. 

 

You can click the apple icon and then system preferences, them printers and scanners, select the + icon and then select in front of Use and the dropdown menu,  Generic PostScript, add the printer and test the PDF with the new printer icon.

Thank you very much. It was a hard work to find an old  .FUL2 file but after I found one the downgrade was easy to do.

Hi, do you know where you downloaded the prior firmware and what version it was ? I've same issue but can only locate 2132A on FTP site. I managed to find version 1948 but this seems to old (or too old compared) to install. Printer was installed in March 2018 and worked perfectly every since - until it auto-updated to 2132A. So, anything after Mar 2018 would be good !

Also, I'm guessing I have to physically visit the printer ? It's not mine, a customers' printer, and I'm OK to visit - but would be better if I could do remotely ? (assume USB, .FUL fiile to downgrade ?)

Uploaded.  You do need to be present.... as it's a flash upgrade via the USB port on the device.
