Pagewide Pro MFP 477dw prints squares instead of text

That's a good question that I can't authoritatively answer, as I've only done it on the one device.   Considering all of the Pagewides are impacted, I would think it would be the same firmware, but I wouldn't risk it with a client without getting an answer from HP.

Ok, no worries, I compared files and it does look like it's specifically for a 577dw printer - I have 1908 for the 477dw so will use that - many thanks all the same and thanks for fast response.

I know, stupid question, but shouldn't HP provide a solution here? 

Last FW messed it up, I would expect a new one fixing it and a download link for the old one in the meanwhile

Yes, they should - I' m monitoring the FW. The solution I found here, however, works as an interim fix. Obviously, makes no difference to AirPrint but does fix document printer from Mac's.

I'm still kicking myself for installing this firmware "upgrade" which basically bricked my printer.  This will be my last HP purchase for some time.

I configured automatic FW update, but to be honest, if I would have read the release notes (important security update) I would have installed it also manually.

No hint regarding „we switch off AirPrint“

I have the same issue.  I know what causes the problem but I was not yet offered a solution by HP.     The driver of our HP 477 is not up to date with OS Big Sure for certain characters (if you print in Helvetia font it is more or less OK - although that in some PDF docs you can not change the font...).   I have this problem only since the upgrade to Big Sur OS.

Quite frustrating that we have to wait for HP to realise the issue and take action.  It is HP who has to fix the bug in their driver for OS Big Sur of Apple.

Hi, I'm also running into the same issue! I've looked several places for the .ful2 file as well - would you mind sending me the file or possibly making the link public? So frustrating to not be able to find the correct file on the HP website!

Version 2142A released and installed automatically..

Can't find any release notes yet, but seems to solve the problem.
