OfficeJet 6958
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Got this printer from Costco very recently and it's developed a consistent problem when printing multi-page documents.

The first page will (often) print ok, but subsequent pages get mis-paginated somehow; the printing on one page will cut off, and the remainder of the contents of that page will be printed on another page.

That has happened with printing from Excel, from Chrome, and from Adobe Reader, with various file types. I have rebooted the printer and the computer. I have verified that Letter size is selected in both software and hardware. What else can I try?

P.S. No error occurs, it just prints out badly.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that your printer is not printing as it is shown in he document.

This could be a driver issue.

Perform root level uninstalltion to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.

Click here to download and install full feature driver for the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Refer this HP document for the steps to update the printer firmware:- Click here

Let me know how it goes.

Appreciate the quick response!

I think Windows 10 is helpfully changing up the wording on us... I did find "Apps and Features" and "Printers & Scanners" and uninstalled anything HP I could find, and the printui Drivers as well. But the reinstall hasn't worked from the provided download, nor from adding the printing in Windows 10 directly. While the printer remains successfully connected to the home wireless network, the computer can no longer find the printer, even via direct IP address. Windows Firewall seems to have all kinds of HP programs in the Allow list... not sure where the hitch is here, but now I can't seem to use it from this machine at all...

Hi @sbbodbob, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.

I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.

Splendid analysis and remarkable patience shown. It is immensely appreciated.

As you mentioned after trying out the steps you are unable to find the printer from the PC.

Download and run print and scan doctor on your PC and check if it helps.

Refer this article to know more information about using HP print and scan doctor on your PC. Click Here

Also, try the steps recommended below.

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Services, then select the search result of the same name.

  • In the Services list, double-tap (or double-click) Print Spooler. Select Stop > OK.

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type %WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers, select the file folder in the search results, and then delete all files in the folder.

  • Search for and open Services again

  • In the Services list, double-tab (or double-click) Print Spooler.

  • Select Start, and in the Startup Type list, make sure that Automatic is selected, and then select OK

Install the printer software again and check if it helps. Click Here

Lastly, if nothing works try creating a new user account on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

Hope this helps!

Happy Holidays! 🙂

ok, thank you, that helped me get back to where we started at least. 🙂

The more I study the way the sheets come out of the print jobs, how the 2nd partial page spits out right on the heels of the 1st partial page, I suspect more strongly that's it's a more of a hardware than software issue. Like the intake mechanism isn't taking one page cleanly but rather pulls a 2nd one in along the way much of the time. When it does, I get the last 1/3 or 1/4 of the contents on the 2nd page, and when it doesn't I get an ok page.

Is this any sort of known issue with this model? Is there anything I can do to test/prove such a theory?
