After printer (Deskjet F4480) is turned on, it pulls in a piece of paper about 4 inches, stops, and then flashes a paper jam. I have looked all through it and do not see any paper jam. The spring sensors (if that is what they are) appear clear and move freely. I also cleaned the rollers. Any suggestions? Thanks.

@ray5450 Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you have an HP Deskjet F4480 All-in-One Printer. I read that there is a false out of paper error on the printer. The printer has enough paper though. Not to worry, I'll do my best to help you.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did any hardware changes take place on the printer recently (like a paper jam, etc.)?
- Have you chosen the correct paper type and size from the printing application you are trying to print from?
- Is the printer able to make a copy?
Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
If the printer continues to display the out of paper message then I suggest you to perform the steps from this HP article.
NOTE: You may skip "Solution one: Perform a reset".

"Did any hardware changes take place on the printer recently (like a paper jam, etc.)?"
--Just what I described, which seems to be some kind of paper jam.
"Have you chosen the correct paper type and size from the printing application you are trying to print from?"
--Same/no change.
"Is the printer able to make a copy?"
--As I said, immediately when the printer power is turned on (without requesting a print or a copy...or anything), it feeds a sheet of paper part way, stops, and says paper jam
The article at the link starting at Solution 2:
--The paper is fine/no change.
--It says to do a "self-test report" by using a "Set-up button", but I cannot find anywhere in the documentation where the "Set-up" button is. I used the Print test page function under printer properties, and nothing happened. The reason nothing happened is because it says there is a paper jam.
Solution 3:
--It says to do a Paper Feed Cleaning. There, it says to clear the paper jam first. If I pull out the paper, it still says paper jam. The power will not go off without unplugging it...probably because it says Paper Jam. After unplugging and repowering, it will say it is out of paper, even though nothing should be printing. If I then put in paper, it pulls the paper about 4 inches, stops, and says Paper Jam.
Solution 4:
--This refers to the printer not picking up the paper, which is not applicable.
Solution 5:
--Says to get a new printer. I came to this forum first.
I also examined with a flashlight, the front and back access for any ripped or loose pieces of paper. It appears all clear.
