I cannot find either the white or black switches mentioned on my HP Officejet 6500. My ink cartridge remains stuck far to the right side and I continue getting the error message "Paper Jam" when there is no paper in the machine that I can find? I have done everything--except play with these 2 switches--and still have a stuck cartridge and the paper jam error message???????

Hi @kerryA8,

It sounds like the printer carriage has been jammed. Manually moving the carriage, removing an re-installing the ink cartridges and power resetting the printer may clear the carriage jam. Instructions on how to resolve a carriage jam can be found here

Let me know how it goes!

Howdy. I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my inquiry regarding my problem with my HP Printer and the "paper jam" that wasn't--unless it was somehow behind the printer cartridge which was hard stuck 'electronically' to the right.

I ended up--before I heard from you--taking it into a co puter repair shop where they looked at it and told me it was shot.

I'm pretty sure they didn't do any more than I did--and probably didn't try what you suggested--and just said it could not

be fixed and I should recycle it... which I did. So much for that. I actually like having more desk space where it sat so I am'

just using the big printers in back; I work at a Real Estate Sales and Appraisal company where they have top-of-the-line

printers in back to do the appraisals, which I can use. I also have an HP 2210 printer on which the lights just blink that I

am tired of having sit here and will recycle, too.

So, I didn't get to do what you suggested, but I wanted to tell you "Thank You" for your response. Have a good one.

You are welcome, Kerry! It's unfortunate that we couldn't resolve the issue and you had to recycle both the printer. If you ever require any technical assistance, feel free to reach out to us. Have a great day!
