Photosmart 5510
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm trying to access my Photosmart ePrint page online and it's asking for a username and password. I'm unable to reset the printer from the touchscreen as it's no longer working. I don't remember setting up a username/password and have tried all the defaults (username: admin, password: blank) etc, but can't seem to get in. As the touchscreen is not working this is my last bastion of actually making use of this printer before I give up!

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer and while trying to access the ePrint page online, it is asking for a username and password. Also, the touchscreen is not working for the printer.

I suggest you to update the printer's firmware via this link. Please restart the printer after the firmware is updated.

If the issue persists then you may reset the printer. Resetting the printer will completely restore the printer to its original factory settings and erase the password too.I have sent you a private message with the reset steps.

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Keep me posted. Cheers!

Managed to update, but am still getting requests for username/password. I've sent a PM and gone into a bit more detail. If you can't sort it out no problem, I'll mark your answer as the solution.

Hi Oliver,

The options on the printer's screen may not be working because if the error message.

May I know if you're using original HP ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges?

There should be an option to touch "ok" on the screen when that error appears. If the "ok" option is absent on the printer's screen or if nothing happens after you touch ok then please perform a hard reset on the printer by following the below steps:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If you're using original HP ink cartridges then please perform the steps as described in detail form this HP article. These steps help in fixing various cartridge related errors.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know. Cheers!

The bottom right hand corner of the screen hasn't worked for about 2 years. It's where the OK button is for the semi reset and to dismiss the message saying cartridges are not genuine. From what I read it's common for the bottom right hand corner of the screen to become unresponsive on these printers. But it just means I can't dimiss or accept any message where the 'OK' button is in that part of the screen. But thanks for the help anyway.
