Recently our printer has started to pause between printing multiple page documents.

No PC software updates or configuration changes on the printer have occurred, and it's not just when printing from a PC/AirPrint that this happens, as copying documents using the ADF has long pauses between printing multiple pages also, so we can rule out that it is a driver issue with the computers.

All the usual things of switching it off and on again have all  been tried, this has been tried with the computers, network switch (as it uses wifi for connectivity) and the printer itself but the problem is still there.

I have checked the firmware on the printer and it is still the original firmware that came with the printer and there are no updates for new firmware, trying a wired network connection and USB doesn't make a difference either.

It was only purchased 7 months ago and has printed just over 7000 pages so it's not even like it's an old printer and it's a bit frustrating as it takes between 43-48 seconds between each page.

Should we just return the printer or is there a simple solution for such a silly problem?

Hi David,

Thanks for the additional troubleshooting steps.

I can confirm we've not had any power outages and the printer is connected to a surge protected outlet.

Unfortunately after having tried the hard reset and then the factory reset, I've still had no luck with the printing issues as before. I have even tried printing and copying blank pages to see if that would increase the speed when starting printing and between pages but there's still a long delay. It just seems as though it's doing a warm up before and during printing, as it makes the same noises as when it's first switched on.

Additionally, I have tried printing an alignment page to see if that would help any as I started running out of ideas, but it still took its time to start printing and then made no difference.

I guess the next step would just be to get in touch with HP Technical Support
