Thank you, KrazyToad.  I haven't tried your recommendations yet but have printed them to follow when I get the courage to uninstall my beloved HP Photosmart printer.  Every time Microsoft does an update, something is damaged.  I wish they would knock it off.

It's so weird, KrazyToad.  I had held off uninstalling my HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-One, and tried one more time to print a photo via the photographic paper slot.  I hadn't tried since the last Microsoft update screwed it up.  Turns out that was temporary.  Strangely enough, it fixed itself. My photo printed just fine, no blank spot down the center.  I don't get it, but I'm happy to have things back the way they were. Thank you for for your responses to my pleas for help.
