Ink cartridge door open when it’s closed. Tried everything, from shutting down printer, unplugging it restarting still I get a message” Ink cartridge door open”
I think I solved the problem. When you take the ink cartridge cover of the printer there is a circuit board on the left hand side looking from the front. On that circuit board there is a black chip that looks like a U that’s the micro switch (chip) that aligns with the cover switch. Mine was broken off. Now need to solder it back on.

Yes my solution worked great... I went to store and bought a Cannon and came home and threw the HP in the trash... brand new ink carts included since I'll never need HP ink again.
Try that see if it works for you too...
P.S. I had two other HP's that stopped working as well in storage... I now have more room in my storage unit.

Hi @Rover314,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are facing issues with your HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer wherein you get a message "Ink cartridge door open”.
This issue could occur if the cartridge door sensor is damaged.
As the cartridge door sensor is damaged, I suggest that you contact HP phone support from this link: www.hp.com/contacthp
You may select the country and type the product# of the unit and then follow the on-screen instructions to contact HP phone support.
You have a good day ahead.

Hello Rover314:
I do know where the sensor is located. My U plastic piece broke off as well and I glued it back on, but am still getting an error message. I may have to search Ebay for a new board. Thanks for the tip.
