I'm having issues with photos printing out with a green tint. I'm using a refilled HP ink cartridge, I used a different refilled HP cartridge recently and had no issues. I have performed the print head option, as well as the align print cartridge option. I printed a test page, which looked good, except that red will not print. I've tried contacting HP support, but they try to sell me a computer system cleanup program, to the tune of $399.99! I don't see what this would have to do with printing issues! It doesn't matter if I print from my phone or my desktop computer, photos are still green. If I print an email with a picture attached inside the body of the email, everything prints fine - no green tint. I am not hugely computer savvy, I've googled this issue and see suggestions to change color management settings under printer properties, but I don't see that option when I click on properties.

Hi @fierynorse,
Thanks for visiting the HP community. A very good day to you! I read the post regarding issues with printing in color. I will be delighted to assist you here.
You’ve done an excellent job of diagnosing the issue from your end. Superb effort and spectacular research were done as well. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you try replacing the cartridges and check if it gets fixed?
- Did this happen after a power outage or surge?
- Did you make copies directly from the printer?
For now, try these steps:
Perform a hard reset first from this link: http://hp.care/2j8x0t1 follow instructions from Step 1 on how to do it.
Then make 2 copies in color directly from the printer without any communication from the computer and check if it copies correctly.
If it copies correctly uninstall and reinstall the printer software by following these steps:
- Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
- Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
- Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
- Click on print server properties.
- You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
- Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
- Restart the PC.
- Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
- Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
- It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
- If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
- Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
- Restart the PC again.
Then download the latest driver from http://hp.care/2wsAoQo and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
This should fix the issue.
If it does not, try the windows built-in drives by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2o3acvH
If it fails to copy correctly then follow all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2vCJC1b to troubleshoot print quality issues.
- If the problem continues, then contact HP phone support to get the cartridges replaced or try with different cartridges. This should fix the issue as long as there are no hardware issues with the printer.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP
- Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
- Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
- Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
- Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient. Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I've tried all of the steps above and have uninstalled and reinstalled my printer, driver updates, etc. I'm still having the issue of a green tint on the photos I print. I have noticed that if I don't switch my printer settings to glossy paper, and just leave them at plain paper, the photos do in fact print in color, without the green tint, however the colors are over-exaggerated (way too much orange tint, etc.)

Hi @fierynorse,
I reveiwed the case. Thanks for the quick reply. You've done a terrific job here by displaying great technical skills, excellent commitment and infinite patience to try and get the issue fixed. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂 It does not seem to be software related.
When you click on print on plain paper you stated that the colors print fine.
Please try these options.
- Try making 2 copies in color directly from the printer without any communication from the computer using the same photo paper.
- If it does not copy correectly and the colors don't come out the way they should, then check if this photo paper is supported by the printer specifications under paper handling options.
- If it is supported, try a different brand of phot paper that is compatible with this printer and supported by it.
- This should fix the issue
- Product specs link: http://hp.care/2hsRf4x of the printer.
- Please check Paper-handling specifications and under that check these options:
- Paper tray capacities
- Supported paper sizes
- Supported envelopes
- Supported cards
- Supported custom sizes
- Printing specifications
Please ensure to keep in mind, the paper type, paper size and paper weight and other printing specs.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I tried this, and got the following result: I copied an image which contained red, as red is what didn't come out on the printer diagnostic page - the first copy came out perfectly, the second copy printed yellow instead of red.
