Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.
I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer prints the documents in black and white only even though you choose to print in color. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
Is the printer able to make a color photocopy?
What operating system are you using?
Have you checked the color ink levels? On the printer control panel, touch the Ink icon to display the current estimated ink levels.
If the ink levels are fine and if the printer makes a color copy then the evidence points towards the drivers. In such a case, I suggest you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
If you're using Windows then please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers.
For Mac OS, I suggest you reset the printing system in Mac.
In case the printer does not make a color photocopy then you may have to clean the ink cartridges. Please perform the following steps from this HP article.
- Step 9: Clean the ink cartridges.
- Step 12: Manually clean the area around the ink nozzles.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂

You're welcome. I truly appreciate your efforts. Thanks for sharing the image.
Have you tried to print the photos using another application? Please try this HP article for more information on printing photos in Windows.
Finally, we could uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them. This will eliminate any issues that could occur because of the corruption in the driver:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Please download and install the printer drivers from this link.
Hope this information helps. Let me know how this pans out. Good luck! 🙂
