HP Photosmart 2610 All-In-One

I installed a new OEM HP 96 black printer cartridge when my cartridge ran out.  The printer did not recognize the new cartridge when I installed it and it said, "install a new cartridge".  In the past when I got this message I would go buy another new OEM HP 96 and install it which solved the problem where the printer reset itself and would print find.  This time when I bought a 2nd new OEM HP 96 cartridge the printer did the same thing and would not recognize the 2nd new cartridge but this time the printer stays stuck in the "Remove Cartridge, Install new Printer or Photo Cartridge in the Right Stall" mode.  I have tried all kinds of resets and the same result, it stays stuck in the ""...in the Right Stall" mode.

I would assume at this point a "hard reset" or default/factory settings is the only way to get this working again.  But I don't know what the procedures are for a "hard reset".  If the "hard reset" is not the answer then what is?
