HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

This printer has been collecting dust in my house and after a handful of years I went to use it today. Tried printing and got nothing, saw the ink was low and ran to get more ink. Nothing worked and I keep getting the error, Printer failure - there is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the printer off, then on. If you continue to get this message, contact HP. Error code is 0xc19a0013. Ive tried downloading HP Smart, downloaded the latest driver on my mac, yet nothing seems to work. Any help with be appreciated!

It looks like you are encountering a specific error code (0xc19a0013) on your HP Photosmart 5520 printer. This error usually points to an issue with the ink system. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.

 

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in.
  • Turn on the printer.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly installed.
  • Check for any low or empty cartridges. If necessary, replace them with new, genuine HP cartridges.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Some ink-related issues can be resolved by cleaning the printhead.
  • The steps for printhead cleaning are usually available in the printer settings or through the printer control panel.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Disconnect any USB cables.
