Black 564 cartridge doesn't fit; now I see I have to order Black 564 Photo. In the meantime, how can I get printer to use the 564XL that has full ink capacity?

I believe you have another question but with different name. Anyway, you can keep the 564XL cartridge and replace the existing black cartridge when required.

Your printer should have 5 ink cartridges

 

The first 4 are same size physically can be 564 or 564XL The XL cartridges have MORE inks inside, that's all. They are (from left to right): Photo (black), Magenta, Cyan and Yellow.

The 5th one (wider) is HP 564 or HP 564 XL, again the HP 564XL black has more inks than the HP 564, that's all.

Again, you can keep 564XL black when required.

I am not sure what you’re talking about re:another question and different name. That being said, I understand about each of the five cartridges. However I cannot find replacement cartridge for small black in far

left and cannotmfind a way to select

the XL black cartridge so that I can orint

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

The smaller black ink cartridge is the photo black ink cartridge. The wider one is the regular black ink cartridge at the other end.

Both these black ink cartridges are available in XL and regular size.

Now, the XL black ink cartridge that you have, check if it is a photo black or a regular black ink cartridge. It will be mentioned on the ink cartridge or its packaging.
