I just got done talking with a colleague who tells me pulling the power plug without touching the power button is more effective for this problem and he has a 7520. If that doesn't work the next thing to try is to disable and then re-enable web services. The problem with that approach is that it will give you a new eprint email address. If your original eprint email address is important to you then you probably don't want to do this.

I have the same printer at home and use the scan-to-email regularly.
Can I ask if you have registered the printer at: www.hpconnected.com ?
You can use many of the apps without registering. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you need to register the printer for the scan-to-email capability.
When I log into my "HP Connected" account, I can see the status of the printer and see that it is connected (under devices tab). If you have logged in, can you register the printer and see what the "Device" status is from the web site?

Try power cycling the printer. This will most likely connect you with a different server on hp's end and if the problem is server related a different server will probably fix it.

Power cycle = Turn printer on / off. Using the power button should be sufficient.

Yep, power button is preferable but pull the plug if need be. Sometimes pulling the plug is better because it causes the printer to reset itself. Just make sure you plug it back in shortly after pulling it. If you pull the plug while the pens are uncapped and leave it that way for awhile they could dry out damaging the printer.
