I pulled out my old HP Photosmart 7760, loaded new ink cartridges, & attempted to print. It spit one paper out & on the display screen (which is now solid blue) it says simply "Print cartridge cradle is stuck. Clear jam then press okay." There is no paper jam, there is nothing blocking the cradle and when I turn it off and then turn it back on, the cradle travels back and forth across its rail twice before stopping and returning to the same message. I cleaned the ink cartridge contacts. Nothing I've done has worked. I keep getting the same message. I have tried looking this up in the trouble shooting but have found nothing.

Hello, @ENOS623 – Hope you are well 🙂
Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a fantastic location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I see that you are facing issues with the old Photosmart 7760 printer. Appreciate all the steps that you tried to fix the issue. I’ll do my best to find you a solution 🙂
First off, try to clean the paper path and then the rollers to try and fix this issue. Follow the steps listed here: Printing an alignment page on an HP printer
Now, perform a power drain on the printer as suggested below:
- Remove the cartridges from the printer.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂
