Print is blured. Part is dark, part is light with white lines through letters. Tried alligning but get an error message: Print Cartridge Allignment Failed. See Product Document for Details

Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this printer is connected?

 

If you are using this printer on a Windows computer, follow the below steps.

Check the ink levels

  1. Open HP Solution Center.

    • Windows XP: Click Start, click All Programs, click HP, and then click HP Solution Center.

    • Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click HP, and then click HP Solution Center.

    HP Solution Center opens in a new window.

  2. Click Settings ().

  3. In the Print Settings area, click Printer Toolbox. The Printer Toolbox opens.

  4. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. The estimated ink levels display in a graphic on the computer.

  5. Replace empty or almost empty cartridges, and then try the alignment again.

Clean the printhead

  1. Load unused, plain white letter or A4 sized paper into the tray.

  2. Open HP Solution Center:

    • Windows XP: Click Start, click All Programs, click HP, and then click HP Solution Center.

    • Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click HP, and then click HP Solution Center

    HP Solution Center opens.

  3. Click Settings ().

  4. Under Print Settings, click Printer Toolbox. The Printer Toolbox opens in a new window.

  5. Click the Device Services tab.

  6. Click Clean the Printhead.

  7. Follow the prompts on the screen, and then click Done.

  8. Try the alignment again.

Align the product

  1. Press the Setup button ().

  2. Press the Down Arrow button () to select Tools, and then press OK. The Tools menu displays.

  3. Press the Down Arrow button () to select Align Printer, and then press OK. The product calibrates itself, aligns the printhead, and then prints an alignment page.

  4. Press OK again to close the message that displays.

  5. Recycle or discard the alignment page.
