Hi, everyone. The error message continually asks me to "clear paper jam."

I have cleared it. I have examined with a flash light inside back, paper tray, both 8-1/2x11 and 4x6 photo paper.

It is clear from what I can see. I could suppose there is a shred of a corner of paper or dust stuck somewhere across a sensor but I cannot see anything.

Has anyone experienced this or have a solution? I would be very grateful or I'll need to replace. Would be a shame to get rid of a printer that works except for this block. Otherwise, It works perfectly and beautifully. No issues.

LMK your thoughts, insights, solutions, Greatly appreciated.

John

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Photosmart D7460 Printer. I understand that you are getting paper jam issue and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Remove loose paper from the tray.

Make sure that the carriage can move freely.

Clean the paper rollers.

Step one: Clean the paper rollers

  1. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.

  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.

  3. Turn the knob on the rear access door counter clockwise, and then pull the door out to remove it.

Press in the tabs on the rear access door, and then pull it away from the product.
  4. Dampen a lint-free cloth with bottled or distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from the cloth

  5. Press the cloth against the rollers and rotate them upward with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove dust or dirt buildup.

  6. Allow the rollers to dry for 10 or 15 minutes.

  7. Replace the rear access door on the HP product.

  8. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.

  9. If the HP product does not turn on, press the Power button ().

Perform a power reset.

  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  2. With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 15 seconds.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

  7. If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button () to turn it on.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.

Let me know ow it goes.

Cheers.

Hi Sandy,

Yes, Thank you for your follow-up.  I've thoroughly gone over the printer (multiple times), removed the back plate, looked at rollers for any possible paper bits caught in them, on sides, opened top, opened front paper tray, looked at with a flash light, shining it deep into corners from every possible angle. There is nothing that I can see anywhere. It is clean.

I've thoroughly gone over the printer (multiple times), removed the back plate, confirmed there is no paper sheet jammed, looked at the rollers for any possible paper bits caught in them, or on insides. I've opened the top where the ink cartridges are installed to see if there was anything, opened front paper tray, looked at with a flash light, shining it deep into corners from every possible angle. There is nothing that I can see anywhere. It is clean.  I've powered down, unplugged, waited, replugged, restarted. Still, it indicates that there is a paper jam.

The printer looks to be in perfect condition but has decided that it will no longer be of service due to this error.

I don't know what else I can do.
