Hi cderose,

I'm unsure as to why you would not be able to check for updates on your C410. In my case, I just checked following the steps in the earleir post. That results into a message that the printer has the 'most current updates installed'. I know it sounds stupid, but could you try again after restarting the printer and your home router/modem?

I googled if it would also be possible to update this printer using for example a USB stick, but did not find anyhthing. Forum: anyone??

The next part is probably 'been there - done that' type of stuff for you, but just in case...

Could you check if your printer is properly connected to the internet?

You mention that you can print wirelessly, which suggest your printer is properly connected to your home network, wired or wireless. In order to find out if it is connected to the internet, could you try opening 'Apps' menu on the printer? In my case the screen briefly states 'connecting to www.hpeprintercenter.com' after which (only :Crying: ) one App shows up. But at least, it proves that the printer is able to connect to something on the internet. If this works and the firmware update still triggers a message that it cannot connect, than - to me - it seems the problem is unlikely at your end. In that case I'm afraid I have ran out of suggestions.

To further check on the printer connection, you could use your browser to connect to the printer and check some settings.

- I assume the printer and your PC are connected to the same run-of-the-mill home network

- Find the current IP address of the printer: press the 'Wireless' button on the C410.

- you should see at the top of the screen to which IP address your C410 is connected. It would shows something similar to "IP: 192.168.0.135"

- Open your browser and enter as address: "http://192.168.0.135/", replacing the numbers with what you found in the step before

- A webpage "Photosmart C410b - Embedded Web Server" should appear; you have now connected your browser to the printer

- Click on the "Network" tab

- Select "Status" with 'Wireless' or 'Wired' depending on how your printer is connected; either of the two should show 'Connection Status: Connected', stick with the Connected one

- Next,  check the values which appear in the IPV4 section on the same page with "IP Address" (should be the same as found earlier), "Subnet mask" (should be similar to 255.255.255.0), "Default gateway" (should be comparable to the IP address noted above, 192.168.0.10 in my case, likely different on your case) and "Preferred DNS Address" (could also be comparable to the IP address noted above, also 192.168.0.10 in my case, likely different on your case)

- If the above are all present it suggests a properly connected printer and again, I'm out of suggestions

- if there is not all information, it might give a clue as to what is wrong at your end

Worse case scenario, just do a factory reset; the printer should automatically check for a software update during the initial setup. Going forward you may want to use a static IP on the printer, or allow your printer to pick up an IP via DHCP and then reserve that IP from your router.

Thanks so much!!

I have a problem like the one describe, but with a twist.

Server Connection Error

There was a problem connecting to the server.  Press "retry" to connect again, or "OK" to exit.

I select "OK" to exit and the display goes directly to "Quick Forms".  Then, the only buttons that work are the up/down arrows.  I cannot return to "Home" or "Cancel", etc.

I tried powering down the router, unplugging the printer and restarting each.  I have used the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  I have tried updating the software.

I saw the highlighted answer to this inquiry and wanted to try the solution, but the "Setup" button will not work, either.

I have a sinking feeling I am going to have to uninstall and reinstall the printer.

Please advise.

The same Problem with my Photosmart Premum C410B.

I can not use the Buttons "Home", "Setup" or "Cancel".

Where can i download the Firmware for this printer?

I would like to use the Apps and the ePrint-Function, but apps works, but not fine, and ePrint does not works...

Every Week the same procedere...Oh HP what´s the meather...

Updating the software IS the fix, and the only one.  When you say you "tried" updating it, do you or didn't you?  What software version is the printer currently running?

You can always do afactory reset which if your printer is connected to the internet should allow you to update the software, restoring the features.

I am having the exact same problem.  Why does a printer that is working fine, suddenly develop issues when you try to enable ePrint?

I'm assuming you have the most updated firmware/software on the printer?  (NOT referring to the solution center software installed on your workstation).

Yes, I did.  I have never had to perform a factory reset but I tried it and it worked.  I have decided to not enable web services or ePrint since they cause me problems.

Crazy, I know, but you gotta figure this printer is pretty old now in "technology" years so I guess we are actually lucky HP is still supporting it.

I never used the eprint service or any of the other web based functionality of this AIO, but my kids now have chromebooks and its one of the only ways they can print from them, so the fact they can use it this the c410 is great.

Glad the reset worked.
