Hi There,

When I press the power button on my printer, the button blinks for a second but doesn't turn on.

Hi @Danny19871,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP ENVY 5055 won’t power on, especially when the power button just blinks briefly. This usually indicates a power supply issue or an internal hardware fault. Let’s go through the steps:

Step 1: Check Power Source

  • Ensure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or extension cord).
  • Try a different outlet to rule out power issues.

Step 2: Inspect Power Cord & Adapter

  • Confirm you’re using the original HP power cord and adapter.
  • Check for damage or loose connections.

Step 3: Perform a Power Reset

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and press the power button.

Step 4: Remove External Devices

  • Disconnect any USB cables or memory cards.
  • Try powering on again.

Step 5: Check for LED Blink Pattern

  • If the power button blinks and then goes off, it may indicate an internal hardware failure.

Next Steps

If the printer still does not power on:

  • It likely needs service or replacement.
  • Contact HP Support for repair options:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
