@HarryK2,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support community!

  • Is the printer connected on a Network (Wireless or Ethernet)?

Let's try these steps:

Step 1: Update the printer firmware

  • On the printer control panel touch the icon.
  • Go to Printer Maintainance.
  • Select Update the Printer
  • Select Check for 'Printer updates now'
  • Once the update is complete, check if the printer turns off automatically after 2 hours.
  • If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Disable IPv6 feature (if the printer is on a network)

  • On the printer control panel touch the icon.
  • Go to Network Setup
  • Select Ethernet Settings or Wireless Settings depending on your connectivity
  • Go to Advanced Settings
  • Go to IPv6 and turn it off
  • check if the printer turns off automatically after 2 hours.

Let me know if this information helps.

Hi it is connected to wireless, I have a verified firmware update and there is no new one for it. So I try suggestion 2, it is activated both ipv4 and ivp6, should I choose enable ipv4

HP Recommended

@HarryK2,

Yes please enable IPv4 only and keep the printer under observation.

Let me know what happens.

@HarryK2,

As a last resort, we can try performing a factory reset on the printer.

Factory reset settings of a printer differ from one printer model to another.

I will send you a private message that would have the steps to reset your printer to the factory settings.

Note: Resetting the printer to the factory settings would erase all configurations like your Wireless settings, Fax settings, and other preferences.

          You have to re-do the set up again once you perform the factory reset.
