Does anyone have knowledge of improving the print placement on the paper? My printer HP 7740 has an offset to the left of the print of 2mm. When printing double sided three is a vertical offset of more than 2mm. When printing single-sided with reinsertion of the paper in the tray for the back-side printing, then there is due to the first mentioned offset a total of 4mm difference between the front and backside print. -- In my case, were I need to have prints which register as good as possible this is an unacceptable deviation either in horizontal or vertical direction.

Kind regards

Willi

Does it happen when making photocopies as well?

To assist you better please let me know which APP you are using for printing. Some apps like word has an option to select the border/offset values

Meantime ensure your Mac and Printer have the latest updates

Thank you for your answer.

i did a test photocopy with a A4 sheet, carrying a table on it. Comparing the distance of the left border in the original and the copy reveals, that the copy is printed 1mm to the left.

Regarding your question about the App used for printing: I print pdf from Skim through the original printer software provided.

Since the issue happens during Photocopy, this means it is not an issue related to the drivers or MAC

Try aligning the Printhead and check if that helps

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .

  2. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

  3. Touch Align Printhead, and then touch Continue.

    An alignment page prints.

I have done as you told. - To my opinion it is not an issue related to alignment of printheads though. Even the printed alignment page is printed off-center of the paper.

The issue is, that the printer does not print centred on the paper. -- I am sure, that my pdf is centred, I printed it before several times on a Canon ix4000, which unfortunately died...

Since the alignment page itself is not centered, I suggest you contact HP Support for Service Options
