I am running Windows 7 in 'Parallels' on an iMac iOS 10.6. I need to print double sided A5 size out of a program that only runs on Windoze. When ever I try this however I get a message telling me.
" There are two or more conflicting settings.
One of the conflicting settings is:
Paper size: A5
Two sided printing: Flip on long edge.
*Resolve all conflicts automatically
*I will resolve conflicts myself."
If I chose resolve automatically it just prints 2 pages single sided. If I chose to resolve myself and try to print anyway I get the same message.
Does anybody know a fix for this or does this printer not have the capability to print double sided A5 size?

Hi,
The Automatic duplexer does not support A5 paper size.
You may find the specification for any paper source (e.g. Tray 1, Duplexer, etc.) listed under Paper handaling > Supported paper sizes below:

Thanks ShiomIL for your guidance...
Machine doesn't do duplex A5... at least now I can stop trying.
Very disappointed as this is the only reason I bought this printer. It clearly says on the box "Reduce paper use by up to 50% using automatic two-sided printing." It doesnt say only if you use A4, US Letter, Us Executive or B5 size paper !!
Stung again!!

Hi, I used to own an old HP 720 series which was able to print double sided on A5. I upgraded it for a HP pro 8600 plus in order to be able to print from the ipad. It cost me close to a 1000 bucks. Now I can print from the ipad but this brand new
top of the range hp personal printer is incapable of printing both side in A5. What a rip off !!!!!!

Hello,
I had the same problem last year, since we print many letters to clients on A5, double sided! The most expensive machines were able to do so, but those were € 4000 + !!!
I had a good conversation with the technical support from HP (one is wiser than the other!!)and they finally offered me the 8500A plus. It DOES!! support A5 duplex. Untill two weeks ago, (own it since feruary 2012) since it has trouble with new original cartridges.
I got the message today: the do not repair, they want to replace for the 8600A plus!
After reading this, I will not agree!!

Hi Threelittlefish
Despite the declaration from the manufacturer, it is possible to get this machine to print duplex on A5 paper. I know because I'm one of those stubborn people who keeps trying. Here's how I made it work:
I had been having the same problem trying to print directly from a word processing program to A5 using this printer. When I created my document, I saved it from my word processing software into a PDF file.
If you save it as a PDF, it can even be created as an A4 document to begin with (just remember to allow for font size changes when it is shrunk onto A5 paper).
Once I save it, I open the PDF version. after checking that everything is where it should be, I hit (ctrl+P) to open the print dialogue.
Normally to adjust sizing I head straight for the "properties" tab right next to the printer selection box, and adjust sizing here.
To get adobe acrobat to print through this machine on A5 duplex, DON'T use these printer property settings.
Instead, look down below paper size and handling, and you'll see the option for "Print on both sides of the paper." Go ahead and select whatever you want here.
Then, a little further down, you will see a button marked "Page Setup." When you open this, it will give you an option to choose A5 size paper. This is the place to select it.
If you follow these, all going well you should be able to covince the printer to do what it is not supposed to do.
Just be aware that occasionally I do have trouble with paper jams when printing duplex A5.
Using this method I have succeeded in printing literally reams of documents duplex on A5. It can be a pain at times when I forget how to do it, but it's fantastic when it works!
Hope that helps someone!

Brilliant, thank you, JaredW!
I know you posted this three years ago now, but your post has helped me, I have just used the duplexer with A5 using your method.
Which begs the question, if the machine can actually print on A5 using the duplexer, why on earth does the system print dialog tell us that it can't, and refuse to do it?
Anyone from HP care to comment?
