My printer is an HP Smart Tank All-In-One 580. After successfully printing a few documents, the printer now refuses to print anything I send to the print queue—each document appears with the status "Unknown," and the printer does not respond at all. There is no error code displayed on the screen, the internet connection remains stable, and the HP Smart Printing app shows the printer as "Ready," yet nothing is printed.
I have to turn off the printer and leave it off for an extended period before turning it on again to get it working temporarily. I urgently need this issue resolved.
I have already installed the latest updates for the printer, and there are no pending Windows 11 updates. The printer appears in Device Manager with no issues reported, but I still cannot print anything. Please assist me as soon as possible.

Hi @BetulBezci,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Restart Printer and Computer
- Complete Restart: Turn off your printer and computer. Leave them off for a minute before turning them back on. This can resolve many temporary glitches.
2. Check Connections
- Internet Connection: Ensure your network connection is stable and the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- USB Cable: If you’re using a wired connection, ensure the USB cable is securely connected.
3. Print Queue Management
- Clear Print Queue: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners on your Mac, select your printer, and click Open Print Queue. Cancel any pending jobs and try sending a new document.
- Remove and Re-add Printer: Sometimes removing the printer from your device and adding it back can resolve print queue issues.
4. HP Smart App
- Update App: Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app on your device.
- Use Diagnostic Tools: The HP Smart app has diagnostic tools under 'Printer Settings' that can help identify issues. Run these diagnostics to see if any specific problem is detected.
5. Firmware Update
- Check for Updates: Ensure your printer's firmware is updated. You can do this via the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP website.
6. Printer Settings
- Default Printer: Make sure your HP Smart Tank 580 is set as the default printer in System Preferences.
- Print Settings: Double-check your print settings within applications, as sometimes incorrect settings can prevent printing.
I hope this helps.
