I got my NEW printer on Saturday (it is now Tuesday) and I have not been able to fully get through the setup process due to an error that keeps popping up. “Print System Problem” and it tells me to check if there are any leaks in the ink cartridges (which are brand new) and there are none, i proceed to replace them back into the printer only to receive the message again. I’ve reset it numerous times, unplugged the cord from the printer, unplugged from the wall, waited more than a minute… same error… and on top of that I have called customer service and once I get to the line for the “All-In” subscribers I’m left on hold… waited nearly 4 HOURS today and still didn’t get anyone on the line. I am beyond livid and regret ever purchasing this printer and subscribing to this plan. I will be ending my subscription.

Hi @Richie1186,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with a new printer that’s not working properly, especially when you can’t get timely support. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the “Print System Problem” related to the ink cartridges:
1. Check Ink Cartridge Installation
- Ensure Proper Installation: Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges carefully to ensure they are seated correctly. They should click into place.
- Verify Cartridges: Make sure you’re using the correct ink cartridges for your printer model. Check that they are not damaged and have the protective tape removed.
2. Inspect for Leaks or Damage
- Check for Leaks: Even if the cartridges are new, inspect them and the cartridge area for any signs of leakage or damage.
- Clean Contacts: Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth. Be careful not to touch the contacts with your fingers.
3. Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall. Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
- Factory Reset: Some printers have a factory reset option in the settings menu. Check your printer’s manual or settings to perform a factory reset.
4. Check for Firmware Updates
- Update Firmware: If possible, check if there’s a firmware update for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu or on the manufacturer’s website.
5. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Self-Test or Diagnostic Page: If your printer has a self-test or diagnostic page feature, run it to check if there are any specific issues or error codes.
6. Clean Printer Components
- Clean Printhead: Some printers have a printhead cleaning function in the settings menu. Run this utility to ensure the printhead is not clogged.
- Check Paper Path: Ensure there is no paper or debris stuck in the paper path that could be causing issues.
7. Try Different Cartridges
- Use Alternate Cartridges: If you have access to another set of ink cartridges (even if they are not new), try using them to see if the problem persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
