Printer is now working. Tech support told me (after half an hour on the phone) to install the "Basic Driver" 

Basic_Webpack_x64-40.15.1231-DJ3700_Basicx64_Webpack

labelled "IT Professional Use only".  This seems to work so far. Presumably I am missing some features.
