Hi @Dave1730,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand you’re seeing error 0xB8585BCC on your HP OfficeJet 5255 when using Windows 10. This is usually a carriage, firmware, or internal hardware error. Let’s try a few steps to resolve it:
Power reset: With the printer on, disconnect the power cord. Wait 60 seconds, reconnect directly to a wall outlet (no surge protector), and power it on.
Check for obstructions: Open the ink access door, remove cartridges, and check if the carriage moves freely. Clear any jammed paper or debris.
Reseat cartridges: Reinstall both ink cartridges properly, then restart the printer.
Update firmware: From HP Smart app or HP support page, install the latest printer firmware.
Test with another outlet/PC: Rule out power or driver conflicts.
If error persists: The error usually indicates an internal hardware failure. In that case, service or replacement from HP support will be needed.
I hope this helps.
