Hi @Vailco,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Photosmart 7520 printer is showing a "Printhead Undetected" error, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Check the Printhead:

  • Open the printer's access door to the printhead area.
  • Remove the printhead carefully. You may need to remove the ink cartridges before you can remove the printhead.

Clean the Printhead Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer where the printhead makes contact. Be careful not to touch the nozzles.

Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Reinsert the printhead into the printer and make sure it is seated properly. Reinstall the ink cartridges.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while the printer is still on. Wait for 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve detection issues.

Check for Physical Obstructions:

  • Ensure there is no paper or other debris obstructing the printhead or the ink cartridge area.

Replace the Printhead:

  • If none of the above steps work, you might need to replace the printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
