Hi The Print Doctor will not clean the print heads. Normally, you click, the printer makes a noise for a few seconds, and your heads are clean. Now nothing happens when I click on "clean print heads." Is the printer broken?
I have an HP Envy 5660.

Hi @bidness,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the "Clean Print Heads" function is not working on your HP Envy 5660 printer, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check Ink Levels: Ensure that you have sufficient ink levels in all the cartridges. If any of the cartridges are low or empty, replace them before attempting to clean the print heads.
- Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges may not work properly and can cause printing issues.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication or software glitches.
- Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up-to-date. You can visit the HP official website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a diagnostic tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor." Download and run this tool to automatically diagnose and fix printing issues. It can be particularly helpful in identifying and resolving problems with print heads.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Firmware updates can address various issues, including problems with print heads.
- Manual Cleaning: If the automatic cleaning process is not working, you may need to manually clean the print heads. Refer to your printer's manual or HP's support documentation for instructions on how to do this. Be cautious and follow the recommended procedures to avoid damaging the print heads.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
