There are several threads on this, and for some reason mine was closed.
macos will regularly fail to print documents that work fine in Windows. It seems to be related to the size of the document, which suggests that macos isn't buffering enough of the document and overloading the printer's buffer, or sending some weird control signal.
I've just tried this with four different documents - all of which worked fine in Windows 11.

Hi @craigmcfly,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are unable to print from your Mac.
To assist better -
How is the printer connected to the device USB or wireless?
HP Color Laser 150nw driver for macOS 11 is not available from the HP website.
HP Smart is not compatible with mac os 11 for your device.
Try adding the printer using AirPrint
Connect the printer to the same network that the Mac is connected to, or use a direct USB connection.
Wi-Fi connection for printers with a touchscreen control panel: Open the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, select Wireless Setup Wizard, and then follow the instructions to select the network name and enter the password.
Wi-Fi connection for most printers without a touchscreen control panel: Press and hold the Wireless button
for five seconds or until the wireless light starts to flash. Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on the router until the connection process begins. The printer wireless light stops flashing when the connection completes..
Wired (Ethernet) network connection: Connect the network cable to the printer Ethernet port
and to an available port on the router or access point. At the printer port, the green light should be steady and the orange activity light should blink.
USB connection: Connect the cable to the USB port on the rear of the printer
and to an available port on the Mac.
Open the Apple menu
, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
Look for your printer in the Printers list.
If your printer is listed, remove the printer before you add it with AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the Minus sign
, click Delete printer, and then click the Plus sign
to open the Add window.
If your printer is not listed, click the Plus sign
.
In the Add window, select your printer.
From the Use menu, select AirPrint or Secure AirPrint.
If an AirPrint option is not listed in the menu, select Generic Postscript Printer (preferred) or Generic PCL Printer.
Click Add to complete the setup.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I deleted the printer and tried re-adding it via Bonjour / AirPrint. It automatically installed the HP driver.
When I went to print a PDF, it went in the macos printer queue, then disappeared. Nothing came out the printer.
Windows 11, on the other hand, no issues. It just prints.

Thank you for getting back to me.
Try the steps in the document to uninstall the drivers-https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1980013-1980057-16
Hope this helps!
Keep me posted!

Okay, so now I can't even get into the management controls, and the HP site is telling me I've now run out of warranty (because debugging this was so time consuming). It won't even let me contact an agent!
The inability to resume threads, and the way your support portal works, are both terrible workflows. I won't be buying a HP again.
