I have had to refresh a desktop completely. It was printing fine to the above LAN printer prior; all other PCs on the network print fine. The problem is that print jobs in this device's print queue are not actioned. The problem seems similar to a closed problem entitled "Printer will not print, stays in queue, with blank status", but I can't respond to that.
I have done a few software reinstalls/deinstalls, print spooler cleanout etc. No dice. Scanning works fine, and the desktop can happily see the printer, IP address, ink levels etc. What now?

Hi @DuncanR1952,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer is not processing print jobs from one PC on your local area network (LAN), there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.
- Check the printer connection: Make sure that the printer is properly connected to the network and that it has an active internet connection. You can check the printer's network status by printing a network configuration report.
- Restart the printer: Sometimes, simply restarting the printer can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart the PC: Restarting the computer that is having trouble printing can also help. This can help clear any software or network issues that may be preventing the print queue from processing.
- Check the print queue: Ensure that there are no print jobs stuck in the print queue. If there are, try canceling them and restarting the printer and PC.
- Update printer drivers: Make sure that the printer drivers on the PC are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
- Disable firewall or antivirus software temporarily: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can interfere with the printing process. Temporarily disabling the software can help identify whether it is the cause of the problem.
- Reinstall printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer on the PC. This can help refresh the printer's connection to the network and resolve any issues with the software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden, thanks for your response. The problem isn't as simple as that. Let me go through your dot points one at a time.
- The printer works fine with other LAN devices. It isn''t the LAN;
- Restarted the printer five, six or seven times.
- Restarted the desktop ditto times.
- Cleared the print queue on the desktop five or six times
- Updated the printer drivers at least three times
- Disabled firewall etc. My laptop has exactly the same security provisions and prints fine.
- Deinstall reinstall all HP apps. I don't believe it is a driver problem.
The desktop can see the printer, can tell me about toner levels etc. I can ping the IP address just fine. I can scan. I can print a test page - sometimes and not others. I just cannot get things to print. The key I think is the lack of print commands in the queue. And yes I have done the print spooler cleanout thing two or three times.
What other suggestions?
